Teckna Group recently replaced a geothermal system installed by others 3 years ago. This project required liaising with the owners next door for access across their property to be able to access the area required for installing the new boreholes. The existing property built over 3 years ago had never had an operational system due to the ground source equipment being undersized and installed incorrectly and the heating and hot water was run from mobile oil heaters and the electric immersion heater. To enable the drilling rig and looping equipment access the fencing had to be removed to both properties, ground mats laid down to protect the grass, shrubbery removed to one side and then pipe out from the drilling rig to the mud shaker system that was sited at the side of the adjacent property. On completion all fencing, shrubbery and grass areas where reinstated. The project to install 2no geothermal ground loops to 150m each, the connecting pipe work and manifold was completed in 5 days, which included mobilisation, demobilisation, drilling of the loops along with excavating and connection of the ground loops back to the location for the new manifold collector chamber and all the associated works to soft and hard landscaping. This was another successful project and the owner on completion of the new heat pump installation later this week will now have a warm house with plenty of hot water.
