Installation of ground source heat pump (GSHP) system at two of their leisure centres to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs. The installation involved drilling 48 boreholes, each 200 meters deep, along with necessary headering works with testing, purging, glycol fill and system balancing.
Exe Valley was the larger of the two centres with the works being done in their main carparking areas. The centre had to have partial parking along with full access to the centre at all times for the public along with numerous school coaches and bus parties.
The project was conducted in phases to avoid a total closure of the leisure centre’s car park, ensuring that the centre remained accessible throughout the project.
The works for both sites required a tight completion deadline and utilised three of our Comacchio Rigs, the MC 900P.1 and two Geo602’s along with 3 mud recycling units, loop and grouters to service each rig.
• Number of Boreholes: 48 at 200 metres with a total of 9,600m drilled
• Ground source Headering: Including specialised Manifolds shipped in from Germany and manufactured. As bespoke units to carry 40ton traffic.
• Phased Implementation: The project was conducted in phases to ensure continuous access to parts of the car park.
