The Whinney Hill Project focused on installing various geothermal ground source heat pump boreholes and headering works across small arrays to service individual properties within the flats.
The works utilised two of our Comacchio rigs, namely the versatile Geo602s to drill and install.
• 32 boreholes to varying depths of 195 to 251 metres.
• Total 6,272 meters installed.
• Geothermal Headering: Integrated with 7 manifolds to connect and optimise the system TGL Teams successfully completed the boreholes within the specified depth range, to full depths with the geothermal headering, testing, flushing and glycol being added to complete the works.
Site Constraints:
• Operating within a residential area required careful planning to minimise disruptions. The drilling teams coordinated with the Client to schedule drilling activities into the required timeframe, safely and effectively.
• Topographically part of the project was on a steep incline to access the flatter drilling area requiring careful coordination and planning to enable the boreholes to be drilled safely. The lower area boreholes having to be benched out to provide a flat drilling area and then reinstated to slopes on completion of all the works.
